In his thriller stories Poe tries to show psychic side of the crime from the inside. He is not interested in social roots of the crime, but in unmotivated actions that go beyond normal behavior of a person in the society.

The Invisible Man is a science fiction novel by the English writer H. G. Wells (1866–1946). A stranger appeared in an English village during a snowstorm. No one saw his face, it was hidden under medical bandages. But one day a stranger took off the bandages and... he was left without a head!

Works by French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900–1944) are full of almost mystical echoes with the present days.
